5.2.8 Disposing of the lancets

1. Open the lancing

device by twisting

the protective cap.

Insert the used lancet

needle into a flat side

of protective end

without touching the

lancet.

Hold the lancet holder

and carefully eject the

lancet.

2. Dispose of the used

lancets properly (see

warning below).

WARNING

Lancets are intended to be used only

once.

Used test strips and lancets are

considered hazardous, biological

non-biodegradable waste.

Dispose of them taking into account

that they are capable of spreading

infection.

Dispose of the lancets so that there is

no risk of injury or infection to other

people.
